Hermitage

Built between 1923-26, The Hermitage was the dream of George Kalbflesich who traveled through Europe collecting stunning architectural elements to incorporate into his home, Tiffany and Dresden chandeliers, hand-painted glass doors from a Chateau in France, Italian marble, an entire dining room of hand-carved wood panels, just to name a few.

For his wife, Aura, who loved to play the organ, he added a grand music hall and installed an Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ, with complete set of pipes, one of only 13 in the entire US in a private residence.

This stunning 10,000 sq ft estate sits majestically overlooking a lake below and the Sandusky River to the rear.  It's not uncommon to see deer frolicking, as well as fox, wild turkeys, and other wildlife including hundreds of songbirds.

Every season here at The Hermitage is filled with breathtaking surprises.  Aura was an avid gardener and employed up to five full-time gardeners at the peak of their time here. Thousands of daffodils along with Virginia bluebells, Redbuds, spring beauties, and crocus are just a few of the many flora abundant in spring. Summer is a lush, verdant sanctuary for the many species of wildlife and song birds that roam freely. Autumn arrives in dramatic fashion with a stunning tapestry of color in every direction and winter brings a stark loveliness of serene beauty.

You'll feel like you stepped back in time, and you won't want to return.

While the rest of the world is speeding up,

at The Hermitage, our specialty is making time disappear.
